JLNIOR SENIOR B MNQUET i On 'inuary 24. 1949 'it the Griver Hotel th juniors were the hosts 'it the Juniorbenior Banquet. in honor of the senior class. with the faculty 'is gue:ts. As tht guests entered 'ind found their places. 'i processionil was played hy the Misses Arlene Reinertson and Gloria Eldexik. Th banquet opened with 'i table prayer by Grace Britrud. As the program continued. David Vigesia. president ofthe junior class and toastrnaster gave 'i welcome. Marjorie Axvig played Nocturne by Leybaeh. A tribute to the flag and a poem, ' America for were given by Esther Melander. Gustav Stangeland, Darrel Berg, Arthur Torgerson, and Stanley Hjermstad played an instrumental quartette, Santa Lucia. A group of toasts centering around the theme Home was given by members ofthe junior class. The Hrst toast was Our Home by Shirley Holum. Liv Lundeby spoke on h'Our School Home . Marjorie Ann Johnson played uValse Opus 42 by Chopin. Following this Edward Nyhus gave Homes in Oth er Lands ack Hovden discussed In New Homes. The main speak fr, Coach Herman Olson, spoke on Our Heavenly Home. Hi: challenge, Have we played the game of life right that we shall gain the prize of a heavenly home. Emily Olson then sang O Lovely Night. LeRoy Moen gave a reading, Home , by James Russell Lowell. Before the closing song. GAA OFFICERS Preszdent Marlys Bautz Vlce Premdent Joyce Westby Secretary Helen Rmgdahl Treasurer Beulah Olson H l n Rmgdahl Mxrlxs Bxut Beulah Olson lox NN sthx Thls year the Glrls Athletxc Assoclatlon has had a xery busy year haxmg worked hard to ralse money for var1ous projects and expenses In order to ralse th1s money we sold candy and soft dr1nks at all the football and basketball games We also sponsored the sale of Grox er m1ttens and Booster buttons Dur1ng the tournaments we had the respons1b1l1ty of sellmg a large xar1ety of COI1f6Ct1ODS Thls was the first t1me we had undertaken such a huge task but w1th the help of Mrs Gaare Mrs Sydness and the faculty we had good success study hours It IS here that the students buy the1r snacks and gather to dlscuss the events of the day Our mam project th1s year was to ralse enough money to buy new umforms for the basketball team The cost of these was S150 and we reached th1S amount early IU the season In addxtlon to this we also treated the basketball team to steak dmners on the even1ng of the1r South Dlstrlct tournament vlctory The G A A also voted to donate half of the1r profits from the tournaments to the band for new un1 forms Th1s was about S100 ln add1t1on to these projects we also shouldered many other smaller expenses Our Athlet1c ASSOC13t1OH has a jomt system each g1rl works to achlexe the amount of po1nts requ1red The senlor glrls need 150 po1nts for 1 large letter and the g1rls th at were awarded small letters last year and have earned the1r poznts recene athlet1c sweaters w1th letters and numerals The four SEIIIOI' glrls who have worked hard and earned the1r sweaters are Marlys Bautz Ethel Nelson Joyce Westby and Marjor1e Dan1elson The underclassmen are requ1red to haxe 300 po1nts a year and the jun1ors sophomores and freshmen are awarded letters p1DS and numerals respectnely Only w1th the full cooperatlon of ex ery member have We been able to enjoy a successful year Fo ty I I I l ,..,.....
