CLASS HISTORY Way back in the year 1951, with the class consisting of 40 members, we entered the new school building, as the first Freshmen. Being green freshmen we were then initiated at the hands of the Sophomores, who made it as tough on us as they possibly could get by with. Kangaroo Court took place with all of us ending up on the black list, and getting the worst tasks possible. Besides all of the rough treatment given us, the party was a huge success. We then treated them to their return party. We elected officers as follows: President, Joe Slobkog Vice-President, Johnny Courtneyg Secretary, Matt Alvarez: and Treasurer, Elmer Logan. Our room motherswere Mrs. W. Daniels and Mrs. M. Alvarez. Mrs. Poland was our Sponsor. We went to Steamboat Springs on our annual class picnic. Being Sophomores we had the traditional privilege of initiating the poor new Fresh- men. Starting the year with 27 members the class dwindled down to a mere 24 before the year was over. Class officers consisted of President, Virginia Heroldg Vice-President, Joe Slobkog Secretary, Beverly Van Wertg and Treasurer, Johnny Courtney. Our room mothers were Mrs. H. Dunckley and Mrs. R. Gilbert. Our sponsor was Mr. Newy. The scene of our class picnic was Glenwood Springs where we enjoyed swimming and numerous other things. In the year 1953 we traveled in high honor being Juniors. We held our total of 26 members throughout the year. This year we elected President, Elwin Powellg Vice- President, Virginia I-leroldg Secretary, Theora Dunckleyg Treasurer, Margaret Cedillo. Our room mothers were Mrs. R. Gilbert and Mrs. Alvarez. Sponsoring our class were Mr. Marconeri, Mr. Newby and Mr. Love. Our money making projects were selling Christmas cardsg hot dogs, pop, coffee and etc. at football games, and sponsoring several dances after football and basketball games. Our theme for decorating the gym was Moonlight and Roses. Though the decorating was a lot of hard work we enjoyed every bit of it. Our Junior play was Angels of Red Canyon. The cast was chosen and put to work right away learning their lines and etc. It was a big success thus rewarding us for all the work put into it. We went to Pleasant Valley, then to Steamboat Springs for our annual class picnic. This being our Senior year we elected President, Elwin Powellg Vice-President, Mario Karzong Secretary, Theora Dunckleyg Treasurer, Joe Slobko. Our Sponsors were Mrs. Long and Mr.Newby. Our room mothers were Mrs. R. Gilbert and Mrs. M. Alvarez. We are looking forward to the prom and banquet to be given to us by the Juniors. We are also looking forward to our Senior Play to be given in the Spring. During the four years in high school the Senior Class has been one of the most outstanding classes in all high school activities. Several of our members belonged to the band, glee club, and also several of the boys playing basketball and football. Taking a summary of our members we find that two of our class members have been cheerleaders for two and three years. Of the boys, five played on first string basketball in their Junior year and four are playing on the first string this year. Seven of our boys were on first string in football. During our Freshmen and Sophomore qears we chalked up the victory over the other classes as being champions of the inter-class tourney. Inter-class tournaments in our Senior and Junior years were not held because our class proved to be too much competition to the other classes because of years of playing basketball to- gether. We wind up our four years in high school feeling successful and prepared for the future, ,S an o S! 'S v lr e ,SM it ln.: 3':w el: in-X 'R-:'TovoiX gif? Kc f lr vs o5e.v's Ucwclv
