20 ua 5 Sports Highlights In this special issue, we want to recall some moments in the history of NHS sports. 1944 was the year that the following team brought home the State Foot- ball Championship trophy for Six-Man Football: R. johnson, J. McCormick, M. Best, R. Risch, D. Skalla, E. Elliott, G. Hibbert, J. Blair, P. Woods, B. Newland, B. Dyer, I. I-loldman, J. Price and Coach Hershberger. Six-Man was played in our school until the year 1952, with eleven man starting in the fall of '53, Shown, FRONT: I. Reiva, l. McKinney, F. Morgan. BACK: B. Skees, R. Franks, and F. Graybeal. NHS football was played south of Nucla, on a field at Biglin's ranch until a new field was built in '52, Pictured is the first goal post placed on that field, which is now the football parking area.
