History Repeats Angela turned disconsolately from the telephone. VVhy wouldn't her mother let her accept jim's bid to the dance? She surveyed the run in her stocking with a dejected air. I'm not too young, she muttered, examining her fingers curiously. Another hangnail ! she said. Moo-oo-oo-ther, where's the scissors? lVIother, she called again. There was no answer to her calls. I'll bet Mother went to dances and things when she was young, said Angela contemplatively. 'Tll have to get evidence or some- thing. Suddenly an idea surged in her brain. Up the stairs of the attic she rang up, up, up! She turned the key in the rusty lock, and opening the door, she rushed in, finally drop- ping to her knees before an old trunk covered with dust. She paused a moment appre- hensively. Then, gaining courage, she raised the cover of the trunk. A sea of cobwebs greeted her eyes. The dust flew up in clouds. She fancied she saw a mouse, but mouse or no mouse, she was determined to get what she had come for. She groped around hastily, her hand exploring. Angela grew excited. Yes, there it was-Mother's scrapbook that Angela had been told not to touch. Angela fingered the old, familiar sticker of blue and white on it, with the words-Nott Terrace. Just then she felt a silk ribbon and pulled it out. It proved to be a sash of bright blue, faded perhaps, but still retaining a tint that suddenly reminded Angela of Mother's eyes. YVait, something was pinned to it. i Angela peered at the paper in the gathering gloom. Slowly she spelt out the words Freshman Frolic, 1932-Girls' Gym+everybody bashful-boys all on one side of the room-girls on the other-glances across-daring Bill Pfeif and Gladys Mudge the first couple on the floor--then Mr. Thompson and Marjorie Burdekin. lllemo-Ann Richards0n's answer3to lVIr.
