mv Aa I RN Q J 3 M, Q'KX7C-2 IAS :SS 'Iha we find our friends in London the city of fogs The games which h tl begun in bright sunshine ended in a typical English fog Miss Ashton 1 society leader had planned a theatre party in honor of the visitors However the inclemency of the Weather aside from frustrating the best efforts premiere of Furst and Carozza s dynamic production Cast Your Bread Upon the NVaters the screen production of Jeanne Butler s story of that name di rected by the skillful Margaret Connor and starring Evelyn Bletzer As the evening s main attraction director and star were to make a personal appear ance Hove exer when the time came for this important part of the program the director was not to be found After frantic efforts a member of the cast found the bewildered lady wandering about nn the fog As planned the two ladies sailed for home the next day but not until the light of Iady Libertys torl beamed upon them did they know that Frances Nachrnan another school time friend now a Parisian Modiste had made the homewarel journey with them America and home There was New York with its massive btildings connected by elevated sidewalks and roads and the hum of hundreds of airplanes which darkened the sky Thex watched the airplane traffic lights suspended aboxe them and the stream of humanity hurrying by Hardly a skirt to be seen all trouse s How times had changed What would the dear Sisters think Mildred spoke We must stop in Baltimore on the way home and run out to Notre Dame I hope we can be there when Sister Frances celebrates her golden jubl lee How time flies I went out to see her before I left and she hadnt changed an atom She is really remarkably preserved Sister Simpatic Ot t1l1a Schaller you know is the fourth year teacher now Helen Feltovic I ve forgotten her name in religion has just been made Dean of the College Quick hail that cab Ellie Pennsylvama Station please So finally we find our friends back in Baltimore Their few and far betvs een visits to their Alma Vlater were always a source of great pleasure to these two loyal daughters As they rode out Charles Street they deplored the ravages business had made on the once beautiful suburb Shops and stores extended to the very campus edge but there the hurrying thoughtless world was stayed to gaze on the splendld institution which stood 1n all its anclent glorv looking with half p1ty1ng scorn on the lawless world around it and there along the valley paths in the shifting shadows walked the Sisters tell ing their beads in melodious chant Our friends watched them ln silence searching out the well known faces there they were all of them Josephine Mamie Ottilia Lena Mary Helen Peggy and Margaret the peace and satis faction of many happy years glowing in each face Tears welled into the eyes of the watchers and they continued up the path Why go on to Washing ton tonight' They were always sure of a warm welcome here and after all wasn t this home, 'ww J fv- n V .
