I was be1ng pol1tely shown to the door when I suddenly began to real17e that thxs was no jokmg affalr They were SCIIOUS I stared at the men These men were not made up' Thls was no costume affalrl They were really Chlnamen I-Iow I ever got out of that door I don t know but I soon reallzed that I was out 1n the open a1r after havmg prously begged the ard of every sa1nt 1n Heaven' I dlmly remember stumblmg past some woman I was strll holdxng my small travelrng case CLuck1ly I had checked my bagj Then falntly I heard three knocks on the door I had just left I thought then that that must be the woman for whom they had mlstaken me I lost no txme nn gettlng away from there as I stlll held the mysternous letter I was determlned to gxve that to the pol1ce I came to the next whlte house but was almost afrald to try It A Well I s1ghed lt can t be any worse than the one I just left So I went up boldly and gave the knocker a good bang thls tlme No more gentle taps for me Adventures Never agam I had enough adventures to last me for some tlme to come But what was thls The door opened slowly xery slowly I stepped mto a hall so d1mly lxghted that If was almost dark What?
