HYPERION philosophy encourages freedom of speech lt seems that people at Notre Dame, just as people everywhere in the world, have a natural curiosityg boys want to know what the girls are up to, and vice-versa, teachers keep an uneasy eye on their students, students and faculty together want to know when and where the championship game is, etc. Satisfying this curiosity was THE HYPERION, Notre Dame's student- run newspaper. Hyperion, the Titan sun god of enlightenment, was chosen as a name which would continually remind the staff of its purpose of bringing the news to ND. Under the editorship of Mark Kwasny, Michelle Wright, and Cindi Christensen, THE HYPERION brought out the facts in such fields as social events, sports, and class news. Also included was the equally important field of opinion, through responsible editorials by staff and guest writers which attempted to sound out students' and teachers' feelings alike. Putting together a newspaper was hard work in itself let alone the newspaper of Notre Dame, an active school with widely diversified interests. Anyone who could keep up with our activities as well as THE HYPERION staff has surely deserved their thanks. Editors blow cool as deadline passes After a shaky start, little experience, no money, and general chaos, the staff of Titan '73 worked nevertheless toward producing a yearbook to be proud of. The staff launched the yearbook with a highly successful ad and patron drive. But few people realized the work that went into producing this yearbook. Night meetings, and frantic rushes to meet unmeetable deadlines were only part of the hard work that was in the annual. Through the efforts and leadership of the yearbook advisor Father Caffrey and editors Stephanie Wuetcher and John Kuschell, the staff of Titan '73 tried their best to give Notre Dame student body a book full of the school's fondest memories.
