N 3 a New officers are initiated amid joy and tears The elections for 1973-74 officers was crammed into one short week of nominations, campaigns, and speeches. The results were announced at a dance at the end of the week. ASB offices are taken rather seriously at Notre Dame, and students were genuinely concerned with choosing the best people to lead their school. The results were as follows: Larry Green, social chairman: Suzanne Flores, treasurer: Kathy Brown, secretary: Pat Gorman, vice-president: Donna Mascari, student body president. Auditions started in March, and two months of rehear- sals followed, as Notre Dame endeavored to stage the musical Guys and Dolls. Once again, Mrs. Shirley VanderLind directed the play, giving it a professional flair. It was given wide publicity, and strove for authen- ticity in costumes, scenery, props, lighting, even the accents. Guys and Dolls takes place on Broadway when there were gangsters and gamblers and prohibitionists. The story centers around a group of gamblers finding a place for their crap game. The Salvation Army, a trip to Havana, a line of Hot Box Girls, and the police provide humor and suspense to the events. The performance was a smash, and received a standing ovation on both nights. It was the best musical ever.

BSU Talent show reveals students' hidden abilities The Black Students' Union, characterized by a strong unity and determination, sponsored a talent show as a benefit towards fighting sickle cell anemia. A variety of entertainment was presented, including bands, folk singing, vaudeville comedy, and imitations. Students enjoyed watching the show, and it proved to be a great success. Though we regret that there were no pictures of BSU members themselves available, we have pic- tured here some of the acts.
