F OOTBALL One of the most successful seasons record-wise in Titan football history, yet one of the most frustrating as well, came to a pre- mature and heartbreaking end the night of November 26. The Green Machine Battled to a scoreless tie through 48 minutes , only to be bounced out of the C , I, F, playoffs in the tiebreaker period, 1-0 by Los Angeles Baptist, a team Notre Dame defeated in 1970 to win the C , I, F, crown, Prior to this, ND had struggled through an undefeated season. That may sound strange, but in a league the Titans were expected to dominate, they had all kinds of troubleg beating San Dimas and Aquinas by 6, La Sierra by 13, CSDR by 11 and Big Bear by a single point. The Titans were not without individual standouts, however. Sen- ior co-captains Joe Basilone and Chuck Machado seemingly carried off every award in sight, as both made All-League and All C ,I, F, , and Machado additionally was named to the All-Riverside County Football Team and Arrowhead League-Defensive Player of the Year. Other Titan all leaguers included Daron Smith, Tim O'Doherty fboth were selected on offense and defense as was Basiloney, Bob Crabb, John Moser, Keith Gunther and Duane Dennis.
