The Freshmen started the memorable school year wnth a get acquaunted pernod precedlng electron On votnng day the Freshmen appeared wnth fluores cent rubbon and badges adorned wnth remarks about the favored candudates Furemen possibly feelmg the heat appeared and rang for fure drull Down the front stalrway to Seventeenth and Dolores streets marched the gally bedecked Freshmen followed by the amazed looks of fnremen and Old Mlssnon tourusts The Sensors all thus time had been eyenng their prospective vlctlms for lnltuatlon Although great secrecy was observed by the lnstlgators such hunts as the assignment of fave hundred word composntnons on nntellectual sublects such as Why Down Is Not Up a painful eulogy to be memornzed overnught gave evldence of nmpendlng catastrophe The day ntself proved very entertaunung After benng paraded around the yard the hungry freshmen were escorted to the auditorium where they shared a dellcnous luncheon and an amusing pro gram with thelr bug slsters The one lasting result of the day was the admlra tuon for the sensors by their luttle sasters Along wuth the other three classes the Freshmen begged their mothers to loin the Notre Dame de Namur Guild thus helpung to get the coveted T006 school membershlp and the reward of a pot luck supper served to them by the Gulld at the close of the furst semester A plcnuc nn October found a large number of Freshmen roamung the spacuous grounds ofthe Novutnate at Saratoga At Chrustmas the Class of 56 won the award for preparing the most attractive Christmas basket for future Sisters of Notre Dame Games and rallues punctuated the school year at frequent mtervals wlth furst year gurls turnnng out un large numbers to cheer for the N D Bulldogs at the C Y O court They were also represented at the N D League games Most excltnng of all were the Inter class games during the tournament wlth the Debs not too far from the top A novel feature of hugh school llfe partucularly appealung to the new comers was the regular assembly wnth Its refreshing varlety Including turns to entertain the other classes Along with the regular assembly other gatherings proved to be many fursts to the Freshmen the Student Body Dance the retreat the Federation and the play Tlsh So much has taken place that all agree on thus Its been a very excltlng year 1 1 ' , . 1 1 - 1 11 11 - - ' 1 1 1 . . ,, . . ,, . . . . . ,, . . ,, 1 . . . . 9 1 ' 1 1 ' 1 1 - 1 11 ' 11 - 1 1 1 1 - . . , . .
