FOREWORD By any standard three years IS a short time In the history of an educational INSTITUTION The choice of competent admInIs trators and qualified teachers IS the all Important factor yet only the first of many which eventually give a school like Notre Dame a dIstInctIve mark a character all Its own ThIs requires planning OFQBHIZBTIOH Integration It demands foresIght sober thInkIng and painstaking effort A curriculum which meets the needs of If'1dIVldUBl students and provIdes them not easIly constructed POlICIeS which not only make for efficiency and smooth functioning but protect the rights of studen. and teacher alike are not quickly formulated As a matter of fact tasks of this magnitude are never completed With every change In the pulse and beat of the times Indeed wIth every new student crossing the threshold fresh problems Interests and needs must be met It can be done remarkably well but not wIthout an uncommon understanding of young people and the world they live In not without a certain readiness to allow for exceptions and not either without a willingness to modIfy or revoke If necessary decisions already taken WIlhOUl preiudice to others or undue pretense on our part we believe that thIs IS the spirit of Notre Dame the attitude and the philosophy of our zealous prIests and generous lay teachers As a result though still a child In years Notre Dame High School deserves to be heard and its record needs to be read. lt goes without saying that we are proud of our School and deeply grateful for what it has done to us and for us. Much as we may have failed to show it at times we know and appreciate the importance and the strength of the foundation we are receiving for the years ahead. lt is without a doubt a multi-splendored thing with the Builders attending to every facet of our personality every phase of our development. And yet how keenly we feel the inadequacy of words alone to tell the whole story! For this reason if for no other we offer you this 1957 issue of The Juggler a word and picture story of a foundation in progress a strong foundation one we are sure, that will last forever. 3 A STRONG FOUNDATION LASTS FOREVER with alvariety of opportunities and meaningful experiences is
