Notre fDame, Gm Lady, the students of your Academy, grateful for the Peace secured through your intercession and enjoyed by us during the past two semesters, lovingly dedi- cate to you this 1946 volume of our "Tower Memories? Though the future looms un- certain, almost chaotic, we shall face it with high hope- even song-in our hearts: the hope your teaching has given usg the songs you have taught us to sing. We, the members of the graduating class, will be the first of our number to face that future in a world where, far too often and easily, wrangling minds would parry the necessity of striving to preserve the peace so dearly and so heroically won for us. Having been taught to know and realize the value of cor- rect principles and the true philosophy of life, we shall consider it our responsibility to carry into that world an example of noble Christian womanhood and to strive, as your true daughters, ever to bring honor to your glorious name, OUR LADY, NOTRE DAME.

Tower Memories 1922 We, the 1946 Staff, are grateful for the privilege of publishing the Silver Jubilee volume of our "Tower Mem- ories" publication. Twenty-five years ago, the class of 1922 gave to our school its first official yearbook. We salute the members of the '22 class, likewise, each class of the years between, for upholding to our day this fine tradition. As a proper observance of the twenty- fifth anniversary of the publication of "Tower Memories", we have introduced a few new features, which we hope will both add to the attractiveness of our yearbook and serve to maintain its tra- ditional dignity and beauty. With the prime purposes of the year- book in mind, namely, to perpetuate for us the record of our school life and to stand as a symbol of our faith in the value of the great educational institu- tion that is Notre Dame, we have sep- arated all of the written copy from the pictures in our annual. This, we believe, will make for an easier and a more pleasant perusal of the book and will also give more prominence to each section. A second new feature of this year's "Memories" is in the arrangement of the senior class pictures, which have been set up according to the melody of our school song. Each senior's picture represents a note of the school song. This arrangement, besides containing just the right number of notes "to go around" and giving the needed variety to page set-ups, at the same time pre- serves for us in a unique way the song we have loved so well and sung so often. 1946 Here another salute is in order. Our school song has come of age this year, and this time our salute is for Louise Geurink Eberhart, of the class of 1924, who composed both the melody and the lyric of "To Our Dear Alma Mater." Besides our school song, seven other songs, from among the many associated with our school organizations and ac- tivities, are included either entirely or in part. This has been done for a two- fold purpose: to preserve these tradi- tional songs for future remembrance- after graduation-and to carry out our theme logically and completely. The three art-sketch division pages sym- bolize the songs of our school from September to June. The basic theme of Hope is further carried out in the use of green, the color of hope, also by the creation of a special cover design depicting the main Tower of Notre Dame rising up as a symbol of ' the strength of our hope. We, the editors of "Tower Memories of l946", wish here to thank all who helped make our yearbook a reality. Thanks to you, our fellow students, for your more than one-hundred percent co-operation in "backing the 'Memories' attack." Without your support we could never have had our "V-day? We want to give a special vote of thanks to our faculty adviser, Sister Mary Kathleen, and assistants, Sister Mary Michella, Sister Mary Gerald and Sister Mary Germaine. Your encourage- ment and help have given us happy "Memories".
