Mr. Joseph Sever Government and U.S. History B.A., William and Mary. Miss Peggy Miller Social Studies B.A., Mary Warhington College. Social Studies Department All courses in the Social Studies Department are aimed directly at the goal of building competent citizenship for our democratic society. To achieve this goal required courses in U.S. and Vir- ginia History and Government provide a background and the fundamental concepts for active participation in every day life. An elective course in World History broadens the stu- dents outlook of cultural concepts and their interactions. Either Economics, International Relations or Problems of Democracy is studied in connection with U.S. and Vir- ginia Government. Each course offers the possibility for the application of government concepts in that particular area. Personal Finance is an elective offered via television. The ways to become a wise consumer are stressed. Mr. Warren Walters U.S. History B.S., Frederick College Mr, Peter Kriz History, Geography A.B., East Carolina College Mr. Robert L.
