The School Board serves as a policy making body for
the Norfolk City School System. Its functions are select-
ing the superintendent of schools, establishing finances,
and assisting the superintendents of schools as to the edu-
cational needs of the Norfolk Area.
The Board serves in an advisory capacity for other
school administrators. Because of the continued growth of
the population in the Norfolk area, new sites are selected
for new buildings, and old buildings have their faces lift-
ed and enlarged. Many new personnel are continuously
added to keep Norfolk's educational opportunities one of
the best in the state.
