Instrumental Music Prosper The 1965-66 Concert Band, under the direction of Mr. Karl Gombert, prospered greatly during this past school year. The band participated in two concerts, the fall concert on December 5 and the spring concert on May 15. Prospective members of the Concert Band must try out for available positions. Many times three or more students compete for one position. Mr. Gombert then has the difficult task of choosing the student to be in the band. The following members of the instrumental music department earned superior ratings at the xNISBOVA contest February 6 : Jim Brunson, cornet solo; Leslie Douglas, flute solo; Randy Redmaster, clarinet solo; Jim Stanczal and David Vining. tenor sax duet. A rating of excellent was awarded to these students: Kathy Sommer, flute solo, Barb Dahlgren, flute solo; Dan Patton, cornet solo; Tim Sho%vn, clarinet solo; Jan Richeson, clarinet solo; Annette Bocik, clarinet solo; Vickie Stover and Barbara Moore, flute duet; Leslie Douglas, Vickie Stover, and Barb Moore, flute trio: Kathy Sommer and Judith Dunn, flute duet.

The 1965-1966 concert choir, under the direction of Mr. Robert E. Coyle, has greatly improved over the year. They have participated in three concerts and have sung at school assemblies. During the absence of Mr. Coyle, Mr. John Bechtelheimer graciously directed the vocal classes, concert choir, and the seventh grade choir. Musicians of Choir and Orchestra The seventh grade choir worked diligently during music classes and seventh period on Thursday evenings. The purpose of the choir is to become acquainted with the techniques of music. This practice prepares the members for the concert choir next year.
