The next September we returned as sophomores to find that Priscilla Sethre and Arlynn Olson had moved away. Pat Myron did not return, but Richard Kjensrud joined our class. This year Mr. Kepler was our advisor. As juniors we found that Paul Erickson had moved away. Noel Stendahl and Phyllis Gunderson joined our class and after the first few months Richard Kjensrud left. This year was a busy year for us with our class play Professor, How Could You in the fall and, in the spring we had our Banquet -and Prom with its theme Oreintal Gardens . This year we captured first place with our carnival skit Sad Sack and his Unoriginal Irnmature Hour . Our class advisors were Mr. Kepler and Mrs. Sussex. The day soon arrived when we entered the assembly as Mighty Seniors and realized with a shock that we had come to our last year at Northwood High School. In the middle of the year Verna Holterleft us and we remain a small but determined class of 16. Mr. Robert Sheppard our advisor kept us busy deciding on our class colors, our class motto, our class flower, our graduation speak- er, and our announcements. Before we knew it the class play was here, the banquet and prom, skip day, Baccalaureate, and finally Graduation. As we cloge the door of NHS behind us, we open a new door all hoping to attain the goals for what we aim. -By Myrna Johnson Prophecy Dear Myrna, It was so nice to find your letter when I came home from work the other day! I saw your TV show Here, There, and What to Wear last Wednesday and I nearly went into hysterics while watching your Fashions in Review part of the show. Do you mean to say that we actually wore clothes like that back in '58? Good grief, that Chemise Look was nearly.too much! Did you know that our class is going to have a reunion here in Northwood, Mlay 23? It's really going to fun to see everyone again. Phyllis has made a small fortune manufacturing Snap-O-Gum , the gum with the inbuilt snap. I hear that she's building an Old People's Home with part of her money. Arlene went to a beauty school after graduating from high school and she now has her own beauty shop. She calls herself The Squaw in the Tee-Pee and specializes in dying hair. She's become quite famous for an unusual shade of green, it's supposed to be the latest thing! Pat had to give up her teaching career because of her tonsillitis and strep throat, so she's settled down and is raising her own English Class. You most likely noticed the headlines in all the papers the other day about that new machine for putting people to sleep. It should be a great invention for people who suffer from insomnia. Wayne Hanson was the head of the committee in charge of testing it, and he was quoted as saying, Even with the machine I never would have been able to fall asleep during that thunderstorm, if it hadn't been for all the practice in sleeping I got during my high school days. Have you seen that new character in the Walt Disney cartoons ? It's a cute little hot dog that walks and talks. As soon as I saw it, I knew that Wayne Weiner Halvorson realized his ambition to become Walt Disney's right-hand man. Paul is the first nuclear physicist on the moon, but it seems that the rest of the physicists that were sent up there took a wrong turn somewhere along the wayg so until they find the moon, Paul is teaching literature to the little green men up there. Noel, after trying to decide whether to go into the Navy, to enter the field of journalism, or to work on the railroad, has decided to follow in his father's footsteps and has adopted as his slogan Serving udders is our business. Annette, of course, is the bookkeeper and assistant manager of the new Johnson Store in Northwood. Bookie , otherwise known as Ray Sherva, is in Larimore manufacturing Doz pills for stu- dents who have trouble sleeping in class. Gayler, after considering many things, has become world famous as a ballet dancer. I under- stand he worked up all of his interpretive ballet routines before his sheep in Australia. Roger is designing cars for General Motors. It seems that after taking one look at his cus- tomized Chevy with the Continental look, they hired him on the spot. Verna has really gone into social work in a big way. She's the head of a children's home in Grand Forks. In her spare time she's always out in the kitchen helping wash dishes. At the orders of Jerry Marschke, President of the United States lbetter known to us as Bugs, j, Secretary of Agriculture Darrell Jodock has at last solved the farm surplus problem. He was quoted as modestly saying, It was really nothing, I just had all the wheat made into bread and I ate it. Incidentally, Bugs's favorite saying during our senior year, Then watch out! is now a favorite saying all over the country. Well, this accounts for our whole class. I wonder how it differs from the prophecy that I wrote for the '58 TROJAN! I'll see you a month from today at our reunion. Dorothy
