The Unsung Heroes Of Norfhwesfern The show would never go on without the steller stage crew of the Northwestern Thespian Society. Headed by Jeff Michelson, this year's staff num- bers approximately fifteen, of whom most are underclassmen. WNW, the voice of the Northwestern Wildcats broadcasts once a week bringing community and school news to a captive audience. Above left: Musicians bring spirited notes to fall foot- ball crowd. The Band Any morning during the first and second periods, the sound of music can be heard in the building. This beat is our N .W. band under the direction of Mr. Ron Friedman. The high school band practices daily in order to perform at varsity football games and parades. This year the musicians played in the City Fair Parade and they marched from Memorial Stadium to Mor- gan State College for a second public appearance. Various members performed in the spring production of Purlie and in the orchestra for the senior production of The Fantasticksf' The entire group performed at the Junior assembly on April 24. 65

The Underlym Siren fh of NW Aide D. Green greets dawn with a smile. Office aides Marietta Carroll and Denise Green need only step in the door to bring smiles to the faces of the beleaguered secretaries. Office aides take care of customers at the office counter, place appropriate materials in teachers' mailboxes, write early dismissal slips for stu- dents whose requests have been approved, answer telephones and run teachers' materials on the duplicating machines. In addition to these duties, Denise works as audio-visual aide, submit- ting teachers' requests for films, and checking them off when they come in. Library aides tidy the shelves under the guidance of bibliophiles Charlene Thompson and Ernestine McCloud. In addition, the helpers check out volumes and attempt to trace lost books. well. .
