NW Football 1977-78 The 1977-78 football season was a successful season for Northwestern High School from the standpoint of developing a positive attitude amongst the players towards the game of football. Our team did not have a good year in the win-loss column, but we had a real bunch of winners out there working hard everyday during the season. The coaches and I have already started looking towards next football season because we expect many good things from the young men we have returning for the 1978-79 football season. Northwestern Football Coaching Staff consists of Willie Donahue QOffensive 8: Defensive Backsj, Clyde Bell COffensive 8: Defensive Endsj and Head Football Coach, Glen Kelly. Our football staff is in the process of trying to establish a winning tradition in the sport of football at Northwestern. The staff is dedicating themselves to the task of giving NWHS and our community a team that they can be proud of. We want to be successful in football because it is the first sport of the NW school year, and we as coaches feel that we can set the tone for positive things to happen throughout the school year. NW Football, 1978-79, has the chance to be great. We have outstanding returning Lettermen in Michael Greenlee at quarterback, Jeff Thomasg Halfback, Curly and Curtis Fulghamg Defensive Backs and Linemen Vincent Dixon, Sam Stewart, William Clark, Anthony Ragsdale, Brian Tyler and Terry Itson. These people will be our leaders plus with help from the JV and new enrollees, we have nothing but optimism for the football future at Northwestern HS.
