Photo Essay • 7 efore Mohammed Bilal en- tered Bearcat Arena, Angela Horn tried for a prize by shoot- ing from the midcourt line. Horn switched out of Gary Dry ' s Freshman Seminar class to Pat Lib ' s nontradition- al class to better fit her sched- ule. ipping a mocktail provided by CARE, Brad Davis enjoyed the X-106 Beach Party. Davis had just been to Mohammed Bilal with his peer adviser and a few classmates. Activities such as the beach party al- lowed freshmen to meet new people outside of their Fresh- man Seminar classes. n Sunday of Advantage Week, Gary Dry ' s class went on a tour of the library. As Ad- vantage Week came to a close, some freshmen may have felt overwhelmed by all of the information given to them throughout the week. dvantage Week let fresh- men get a head start on their computer skills. Students got instruction on how to use elec- tronic mail accounts and hook up to OPAC, the library ' s on- line card catalog.

he lives of many freshmen changed dra- matically throughout Advantage Week. Advantage Week al- lowed freshmen to move in and begin to adjust to their new lives a week before other students. Activities were plenti- ful for students in Gary Ury ' s Freshman Semi- nar class. The class, com- prised of undecided ma- jors, gave students the opportunity to interact with new people. Photo Essay • 8 hile trying to fix a conflict between Freshman Seminar and football practice In Steve Sharp ' s schedule, Gary Dry called one of Sharp ' s football coaches to determine a solu- tion to the problem. All fresh- men got a chance to meet one- on-one with their advisers dur- ing Advantage Weel , which al- lowed them to adjust their schedules and ask questions. fter their advisement ses- sion, Gary Dry ' s students went to Textbook Services and picked up their books. Sara Begley got her first taste of the crowded lines and long wait in the basement of Hudson Hall where Textbook Services was located.
