Often in the course of unconquered endeavors, there is someone who quietly stands in the shadows, someone who is always ready to guide when paths are uncharted, to share a burden when it is overpowering, to assure when doubts arise. Because he is the kind of person who for twenty years has fulfilled this capacity, we of the 1966 TOWER Staff wish to gratefully recognize our Advisor, Mr. Howard Ringold, as our TOWER OF STRENGTH.

A MESSAGE FROM . . . PRESIDENT EMERITUS JONES NORTHWEST MISSOURI STATE COLLEGE Maryville, Missouri J. W. Jones, President Emeritus To the 1965-66 Students of the Northwest Missouri State College: Your TOWER staff has prepared for you a wonderful 1966 TOWER based on the areas of your college life that encompass your scholastic activities, your social good times, your successful sports program, and your serious consideration of those things that contribute to your spiritual life. While these activities contribute to your success in college, I should like to call your attention to two other facts of your college life that start with the letter S : The State and the Sincerity of your actions. The State has made a substantial investment in the Northwest Missouri State College in order that there might be available to you, the students of this college, the best facilities which contribute to a college education: Faculty and physical facilities. The investment on the part of the State is for you. The state has confidence that you will return in services to the life of the people of the State interest in keeping with the value of the investment. The sincerity of your actions will shape your success and give stature to your character. Out of the four areas portrayed in this TOWER each of you should emerge as a person who is truthful, faithful, straightforward, honest, without deceit, pretense or hypocrisy. I urge you to give serious thought to the utilization of the opportunities provided by the state in the development of these traits which will insure your success. The 1966 TOWER is an interesting record of your life here during the past year and you are the kind of people who deserve such a publication. J. W. Jones President-emeritus
