Dear Bill, The Navy still maneuvered on the semester plan while civilians went back to pre-war quarters. No chance to sit by your favorite sailor in classes now. Big event of the month of March was the election of Blaine Steck and Mary Lloyd Taul as Prexy and Vice-Prexy of the Student Body for the coming year. The dignified Seniors let their hair down once again at their annual party given by sponsors Dykes and Carruth. The Northwest Missouri Choral Society gave us inspir- ing Easter music with Hilda Hamblin, a graduate, doing solos. Under the heading of propaganda, and good at that, we entertained seniors from Iowa and Missouri in the annual High School Senior Lay, April 2. Sherwood Eddy and Dr. Leo K. Bishop and others were guests during Religious Emphasis Week with encouragement and guidance for students who are trying to carry on normal College lives for the building of tomorrow ' s world. Chapel services every morning have been doing the same thing. William Hain was presented in a major entertainment and proudly presented in student recitals were Margaret Baker, Mary Ellen Tebow, Betty McPherson, Jodie Montgomery and M. L. Rusk. We pledged our efforts to President Harry S. Truman, as we grieved the loss of American youth ' s most gallant leader, Franklin D. Roosevelt. After being hosts to the high school music and speech festivals, we increased our enrollment with short course students. The Women ' s Ensemble and Dance C lub combined their recitals for an unforgettable performance. The 1945 Tower went to press and those who survived the anxiety found they had elected Mary Lu Rusk queen of the book. While caps and gowns were in style, many members of the class of 1945 were wearing G.I. colors this year. We paused in Commencement Week to hope that this year in college will not have been in vain for us who were here and for those of you who lost this year of College Life and gained our admiration and respect for your unmatched accomplishments.
