Kennedy, thirty-fifth president of the United States, was assassinated on November 22, 1963 in Dallas, Texas. We, the Seniors, will forever remember this tragic occurence during our last year at Northwest. Mr. Billings was very considerate in securing two television sets and allowing the student body to assemble in the auditorium, on Monday, to view the funeral of our late president. He was one of the most highly respected and beloved of presidents. This respect was demonstrated by so many foreign dignitaries attending his funeral, and still three months later, people standing in line to view his resting place. 55:2 This photo was taken by our student photographer, Franklin Ellison, within ten , minutes after the news reached our school Q of President John F. Kennedy's assas- sination. 39 ikings on the Move The following pages of school activities should be a treasured memory for the seniors. In the activity sections, everyone will find various interest to stimulate their memory. This year the Viking Staff has endeavored to make this yearbook more for you, the student, than anyone else. Our theme throughout the book is activities centered around your daily routine here at Northwest High School, the changing of classes . . . Harvest Festival . . . Christmas Dance . . . club meetings . . . and various classes. We feel this 1964 yearbookbelongs to you, and we hope it will bring back many memories. The 1964 Viking Staff would like to thank our adver- tisers who have made this book possible. Those who sought the ads learned that it was not always easy to get results, even witha smile and a pleasing manner. True salesmanship had to be exhibited to convince well-seasoned businessmen of the worthiness of advertising in our yearbook. We are always appreciative when citizens of our communities show their faith in us through their financial support. 134 SYMRE SERVICE STATION Cor. N.
