A 13a9i I--awww 6 ' i '2 r S Through the guidance of experienced secretaries, the Future Secretaries Association stimulated interest in the secretarial pro- fession, developed a better understanding of secretarial responsi- bilities, and provided the basics necessary to the preparation of future professional secretaries. The benefits of belonging to FSA included association with professional secretaries and other stu- dents who had interests in common, participation in thought- provoking programs developed by experienced professional secre- taries, identification with the business world and the chance to supplement classwork with practical knowledge. All students who were members of FSA participated in exercises to strengthen their secretarial abilities and to help them to become more familiar with the job or duties of a secretary. Anyone who wished to do so could join this club, but it was recommended that a new member know the skill of typing. Members practiced taking notes, writing short- hand, typing business and personal letters, and among other things, proof-reading. Members also learned special tricks and time savers to help them decrease the amount of time spent on an assignment. Mrs. Mooneyhan was the advisor of this very benefi- cial club. She encouraged all members and hoped to make this new, club a success. -uf-'L Vivian Gibson finds co-member's criticisms beneficial.

Gains Lead my jcbolarslyipf-lpplicatioly California Scholarship Federation was a club for students who received a semester report card of A and B grade averages. Many students have been in C.S.F. since their first year in high school. C.S.F. decided to try new ideas such as reelecting officers each semester to promote greater involve- ment of the club. C.S.F. visited many colleges so that the members in the club could have a wide variety in making decisions for future plans in colleges. Many of the members in C.S.F. had good opportunities to go to colleges. Applying for many scholarships, the advisor helped the club members. Starting off the first semester were President Deb- bie Zeman, Vice-President Mark Platt, along with the Secretary and Treasurer Jennifer Wahlin. They started the first semester well and were well ahead for the second semester officers to start where they left off. C.S.F. did a great job helping young students with their future. They had an Honors Banquet where they introduced the members. Some people in C.S.F. became life members and helped out those who wanted information about this plan, along with other projects.
