Qagerg Liflzjpirit For Baglgekball 'feapig 232 Clubs Promoting interest in the basketball program was the Cager Club's main purpose. Comprised mainly of basketball players, the club sponsored a basketball game between the L.A. Rams and Northview fac- ulty members. Club president Tim Roe presided over the monthly meetings and helped the members to establish ways in which to get more people interested in the basketball tournaments. With Mr. Ron Rice as advisor, Cager members tried to in- crease the number of spectators at the basketball games. The club membership was open to anyone interested in at- tending the meetings. For such a small group, the club members worked hard to fill the gymnasium to capacity with spectators on game days. Though the club didn't really get started until basketball sea- son, they were fully appreciated by the basketball teams for multiplying the audience of the basketball games. T l ldulyialpg model The modeling club, known as Idunians, helped girls to devel- op poise and self-confidence. Learning to model new styles, the club members gained awareness of fashion trends, make-up, hairstyles, and correct posture. Club president Sherri Snyder, vice- president LeAnn Tice, and advisor Mrs. Mary Gilman organized the club and helped the club members to gain the grace and techniques of profes- sional models. Although a small group, it was active. Using funds from the previous year, the girls went to several fashion luncheons on certain Saturday afternoons. The club members planned some fashion shows during the year. These shows were to demonstrate what they had learned, as well as to display the latest fashions. Art Club's main purpose was to foster an ap- preciation of and for the performing and visual arts. To be in Art Club, one had to pass the class fundamentals of art or art fundamentals. President Dean Gallegos, Vice-President Melani Irvine, Secretary Colleen Klee and Treasurer Laurene Compomizzi organized various fund raising projects such as handmade Christmas cards and decorations. The deco- rations were used for the Christmas tree at the Eastland Shopping center. Many different schools attended art festivals, Northview entered their Christmas decorations. Their main goal was to receive administrative approval and permission to paint murals on the Viking wall located on the west side of the girls' gym. Helping president Reginald Kemp and vice-president Angel Aparicio were secretary Susan Aparicio and treasurer Leslie Hale. These officers kept the club busy with concerts and raising money. Some of the activities planned were a Pop concert, a Valentine's Day card sale, and a Northview Music Festival, held at Citrus College. Club members also sponsored the annual Sadie Hawkins Day Dance. People dressed up as hillbillies and a judge was present at the dance to marry and divorce couples. Helping the club organize activities was Mr. Roy Lindsey, the club advisor. Mr. Lindsey is the choral director. A lot of his time is spent after school with this club. Members stayed after school to paint posters to promote the chorus activities.
