They started their activities during the summer with a picnic when President Rose Castro suggested new ideas for the upcoming year. Instead of new members being recruited at the end of the year, they were accepted into the club in October. For a week, the neophytes dressed in Halloween costumes, wore posters with their baby pictures on them, and on the last day of their initiation, the current members t'kidnapped the neophytes early in the morning and took them to breakfast. In December, Marklinians gave food baskets as Christmas pre- sents to needy families in the surrounding area. In February, they sponsored a craft fair in which both buying and selling of home- made items were open to the school and the community, In May, Marklinians joined with Thorians to sponsor the annual 50's day and dance. Assisting Rose with ideas were Vice-President Nancy Feilen, Secretary Mia Adair, Treasurer Kim Klauck, Historian Kay Fair- hurst and the dedicated advisors Miss Marmis and Mrs. Parker. ,allw N-Sir FRONT ROW: Helen Barker, Cindy Kongstvedt, Kim Stevens, Barbara Wing. The activity-filled year began with several members participating in a 25 mile bike-a-thon sponsored by the Muscular Dystrophy Associ- ation. As Halloween approached, Thorians were busy making felt jack-o-lantern, ghost, and bats puppets to give to the children at Queen of the Valley Hospital and Hope House. During Decem- ber, club members made and sold candy-filled Christmas stockings and as basketball season ap- proached they sold basketball spirit ribbons. ln February, Thorians sponsored the annual Valentine's Ball and in the month of May the club combined their ideas and money with the Marklinians to sponsor a 50's day and dance. Throughout the year Thorians also babysat for mothers with small children while they attended P.T.A. meetings. At the end of the year, new members were re- cruited and new officers elected to replace the president, Pegi Pritchard, vice-president, Jenni- fer Dorr, secretary, Cindy Ferrando, treasurer, Cindy Aulwes, and historian, Tammy Hagen.
