This year, the coaches chose to honor Pam Cart- wright as the 1978 Athlete of the Year. As a freshman, Cartwright lettered in varsity bas- ketball, was on the J.V. softball team, and managed the J.V. volleyball team. In her second year at Northview she again partic- ipated in varsity basketball, J.V. softball, and she joined the J.V. tennis squad. She was awarded the title of Most Improved in basketball, and Most Val- uable Player on J.V. softball. Cartwright was a member of varsity sports only, last year, as she took part once more in basketball, softball, and tennis. Pam was named to the Mont- view all-league teams for basketball and softball along with an Honorable Mention in tennis. She was also awarded Outstanding Player of the varsity tennis team. Johan Koenig has been name Athlete of the Year for his excellent athletic abilities while at Northview As a freshman Koenig Joined three teams frosh football track and base ball He placed second in the froshf soph track league finals for the shot u Koenig moved right up to varsity football and track in his sophomore year He was appointed to the second team all league in football and he came ln second in both the froshfsoph track league finals and the C I F track fmals for shotput Durmg his third year at Northview Johan Koenig again participated was second in the varslty track league fmals and he was on the first team all league in football that year This year the varsity football and track teams signed up Koenig for the fourth straight year He pulled in more awards as he was noted Most Valu able Player for the varsity football team and was named to the first team all league in football and first team all C I F also for football p tl . . 4 varsity football and varsity track.
