The team prac- ticed lay-ups, jump shots, and dribbling drills to help build these skills. Starting line-up, Paula Clear, Pam Cart- wright, JoAnn Kirsch, Debbie Watson, and Jenny Haines strived to overcome their most difficult opponents, Rowland, Workman, Bassett, and Charter Oak. Other team members, Carren Chaney, Jenny Whipple, Barbara VVing, Nancy Feilen, Madelin Cordero, and Laurel Otto worked with the starting players in holding down their opponents. Height, shooting ability, and ball control were essential in making the team. Coach Jim Pashone felt that Paula Clear and Pam Cart- wright were best in these categories. Varsity player Debbie Watson felt that Northview had an excellent team when the members played together. Reducing the number of turnovers, how many times the op- posing team steals the ball, was one thing many players felt was important.
