K si Q s 55' .ss S -3 gt- t Sweat, exhaustion and a will to win could he seen each day at varsity basketball practice. Varsity practices consisted of two hour workouts four days a week. in- cluding early Saturday morning workouts. Most practices had many drills designed to help strengthen specified areas of the team's game, such as re- bounding, ball handling and shooting. With these drills were periods set up for conditioning which were mostly running of short sprints timed by the coaching staff. These two hour practices were put together each day by Coach Ron Rice and his first year assistant, Fred Contreras. They met each day and dis- cussed the weakest points displayed by the team that week. Practice ses- sions were then scheduled with drills set up to strengthen these points.
