Though beaten badly, the players seemed to reach themselves and find that pride necessary to make them toughen up. ride was displayed along with the Vikes resiliency as they recorded a over Charter Oak. e Vikings followed up the Charter Oak win with a triumph over the s Nobles before a Homecoming crowd filled with alumni, parents, ts, and teachers. This win was sparked by Jerry Holderls timely 90 ickoff return for a touchdown. ring up momentum from two consecutive victories, the Vikings, mas- ' the gridiron, were able to defeat the Rowland Raiders. In the follow- aek, the Vikes smothered the Workmen Lobos 27-6, a game in which ikings displayed an awesome defense. 1. . . 1 y v E h h ill team started the pre-season with an upset over the Covina Colts. The game was hted by their once again superb defensive job as they earned their ut-out victory. Thus, the Vikings carried a six game winning streak eir first C.I.F. playoff game. contest was staged against the Coachella Valley Arabs, a team whose is located in the desert on the east side of Indio. The Vikes loaded a id left from Northview at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, November 19. Arriv- Coachella Valley at about 1:30 P.M., the team went out on the field armed up for approximately one hour. They then went to a team meal 'terwards returned back to the school to prepare for the game. Vikings then proved that they were a far superior team by pummeling 'abs. It was an all around superb performance hy the Vikes, including ecial teams Qkick-off team, kick-off return team, etc.l which accounted o touchdowns in the game. Vikings' next C.I.F. contest was played against the Damien Spartans ere ranked number 1 in the conference. The game was played over the zsgiving holidays, and as a result, the Vikings were out practicing on :sgiving morning while most other people were sleeping in. The Vikes racticed the following morning, which showed the dedication shared .h the players and coaches. Saturday night the stands were packed at the District Field when the started. The first half was played to a 14-14 tie. ln the second half, the ins outscored the Vikes and won the battle, 28-14, thus ending the long orious season of the Vikings. Coach Rich Deltosa remarked that, The im was one of the best I have ever coached and l'm sorry to see the end. All in all, the Vikings had proven to everyone that they were a .o be proud of.
