Spiril. eeEc7?eac5ies fudenlsjivraifomecozning Taking place the week before Homecoming, Spirit Week proved to be one of the most enjoyable week of the entire year. The events began on Monday with Crazy Hat and Sunglasses Day. An assort- ment of hats could be seen on campus, from derbies to Mouseketeer ears. At brunch, cups were placed on the heads of girl representatives from each class while a blindfolded boy from the same class poured water in the cup. This event was won by the freshmen. Tuesday served as Sports Day. Football and baseball players were promin- ant this day. Another brunch time class competition involved girls sitting on blocks of ice while boys pushed them down the sidewalk. This time the sophomores came in first. On Wednesday, students saw girls in boys' clothing and boys in girls' clothing, for this was Re- verse Roles Day. A six-legged race was held and the Class of. '78 At the pep rally on Black and Gold day, 'l'ed Rubio and Dave Ha:-aemeyer take part in the licorice eating contest. Participating in Sports Day Melanie Irvine and Kim Stevens dress up as NVHS goal posts. - won. On Thursday the campus was filled with stu- dents dressed as celebrities such as Groucho Marx, Star Wars characters, Rocky, and Elton John.-It was Movie and Rock Star Day. On the track at brunch a wheelbarrow race was held with representatives from each class racing for one quarter of a mile, but no one kept up with the freshmen who took first place. Friday was the traditional Black and Gold Day when stu- dents dressed in the school's colors. A pep rally was held in the gym to get everyone excited about the Home- coming game to take place the next night. The week ended as a successful and entertaining five days for everyone on campus. Acting as the famous 'Sweathogs' Sinnipati Uiagalalei. -lim Boada and Chris Mendez discuss the Homecoming court in a Lettermen's Skit. At the Homecoming rally, Terry Boudreau, George Bory, and Mike Cohen compare sale prices of their newest outfits. Spirit Week 111

'?allies :Ere flip 'iwifings Hoping to build upon Northview's spirit, the rallies took on a new approach. This year they were more organized, thus making them more enjoyable. Coor- dinator of Pep, Jennifer Dorr was given unique ideas from Ms. Euring, the Rally Club Advisor, and Coaches representing all sports. Students enjoyed skits involving Tam Nugent and her Nuts, insects depicting Rowland High School's football team, and a slow motion football game between Northview and the Cochella Arabs for the C.I.F. playoffs, complete with a llama and Arab as Cochella's mas- cots. - Aside from skits, special awards were announced to the student body. Honors bestowed by the Mont- view League to our varsity teams and the football Players of the Week were announced during the first three months of school. Once each month, the honor of Girl of the Month was awarded to one lucky A combination of Viking spirit, hard work, and interest in the school, represented by everyone who participated made the rallies a success in the eyes of students and faculty. .Singing her heart out, Tammy Hagen, alias Taiin Nugent, inspires enthusiasm with the song Viking Winning Fever. Linda Lackey, Jennifer Dorr, and friend watch the Vikings beat the Cochella Arabs in a simulated slow-motion football game. Mr. Reynolds, displaying true Viking spirit, makes debut at a C.I.F. rally as the Northview mascot. Meyers display their

iomecoming Qevoic-as Specialcime io flumni Welcome Back Alumni! Homecoming 1977 was a spe- cial time for many people. The alumni, mainly from the class of 1977, came back to watch the football game, visit old friends, and help to cheer the Vikings on to victory over Nogales. Excitement increased among the crowds as half-time approached, 'soon a new Homecoming Queen would be crowned! A The Homecoming court consisted of five princesses es- corted by their fathers: Tammy Hagen and Richard Ha- geng Mary O'Hanlon and Felix O'Hanlong Jill Lineberger and Hugh Lineberger, Roxane Moore and Harold Moore, and Patti Plummer and Gardner Plummer. The half-time ceremonies were centered around the themes of Welcome Back. Characters involved in the half-time entertainment were Barbarino, Horshak, Epstein, Mr. Woodman, Washington, and Mr, Kotterf' As the girls rode onto the field in 1977 sports cars the band played the theme song from Welcome Back, Kotterf' Each princess was escorted by one of the charac- ters to the red carpet, where her father awaited her arri- 1 1 ,. 1. ' val. Angela Arndt, the 1976 Homecoming Queen, arrived last. The traditional drumroll echoed over quieted stands, iously waited for the new Queen to be revealed. With approving applause from the stands, the crown came to rest on Tammy Hagen, the 1977 Homecoming Queen! Flashbulbs flickered and happiness shone from the face of 3 the new queen. After pictures of the queen and her court were taken, the girls were escorted off the field to seats reserved for them. Following half-time, the football game continued, Northview's varsity team playing strategically. The final score was Northview 23, and Nogales 153 another Homef coming victory! Shortly after the game was the Homecoming dance. Attire for the dance was semi-formal. Music for the even- ing was provided by the band Pacific Coast Highway.
