Hand This is your Viking Band! It has performed atthe football cmdsbasketball games cmd many of the pep rallies. They were a great contribution to the school spiritiof Niorthview. The band represented the school in about three parades and has performed in twoiconcertsz. They also went to the U.C.L.A. Band Day and to a Band and Orchestra festival.Q . The people elected to office to represent your,band-'cire:iflfresident, Billie Oglesby, Vice President, Jim Chapel, Secretary, Vicki Burke, and Dennis Thcfnk you band for a iob well done. 5- 'Q i s i ' In this year, 6O-6l, the Viking Drill Team was officially active for the first time. They participated in school and community activities, including parades, football and basketball games. They are proud to be the only drill team in Covina, that traditionally supports their basketball team with performances. The Vikings and their Drill team will always be remembered for the Annual Covina Christmas Parade in which they won first place. Hhoir This choir has had a very exciting cmd full year of activities which included singing for many organizations, sponsoring assemblies and dances for the Student Body, and attending fheir first festival for judging. The choir robes, gold, with white and black, were worn for the first time, when the Viking Choir sang for the Covina Coordinating Council, December 14, 1960. .The director, Mrs. Bourquin, is assisted by the follow- ing officers: Concert mgr., Bonnie Kasten, Secretary, Linda Dellllont, Librarian, Karen Duckworth, Publicity, De De Ambord, and Robe Chairman, Carol Ottlefsburigi. ln earning letters each individual has to obtain an 'A' in scholastic grade and outstanding in citizenship, besidesi attending every rehearsal, concert, and activity planned for the group. The director, Mr. Messenger, who used to play his tenor sbxophonefahd claringetgsfvith a dance band in earlier years, has done a tremendous iob with the group. TheDance Band made its first appearance at the dance sponsored by the Music Department and an assembly on a later date. The group hopes to play for a dance annually, so good luck Dance Band.
