JROTC goin new director Discipline is training that develops self- control and character. Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps lJROTCl is a phase of this discipline. One hundred six boys this year drilled twice weekly and received instruction in map reading, field maneuvers, marksmanship and physical training. Student officers were Mark Silvers, David Backley, Mike Banks, Phillip Dieckman, Jim Stilwell, Ceborn Miller, Jim Jordan, Ben Jones and Bobby Stephens. Adult instructors were Master Sgt. William Loyd and Sgt. First Class Tom Robinson. Colonel Choice Rucker, vvho had served as a commandant since the institution of the Northside JBOTC program in 1967, suffered a fatel heart attack in October. First FHA club organized Among the many basic skills covered in the curriculum are those pertaining to family life and individual well-being. ln home economics, projects included not only class activities, but such special projects as teas, demonstrations, dressing dolls for under- privileged children lreached through the Sal- vation Armyl and comparing each other's baby pictures. Future Homemakers of America, open to all previous or present homemaking students, was organized at midyear by the homemaking instructors.
