BOTTOM ROW QL - RJ: Chuck Jolley, Dwayne Martinez, John- Schmidt, Jim Duca. The Soph. Baseball team won all of their games averaging more than 10 runs per game. Rick Bergerun, Steve Knudsen, and A1 Lucero shared most of the pitching duties this year. Rich Bergerun was the leading pitcher. I-le averaged over two strike-outs per inning. Leading hitters were Steve Knudsen . 452, Tony Rouco . 478, John Schmidt .471, Chuck Jolley . 421 and jim Duca . 438. The team batting average was . 388. Mr. Stu Pitschaar, student teacher from C.U. , assisted with the team. The J. V. Baseball team did well this year with a 10-2 record. Good pitching by Larry Perez and Dave Hunter helped the team alot. Good defense by Steve Kemper, Mark Aragon and Kelly Smith also contributed to the team's success. Dan Kruse led the team in hitting. There was not a J. V. team picture availible. The names of the players were Dave Hunter, Pat Munson, Kelly Smith, Larry Perez, Steve Kemper, Dan Kruse, Mark Aragon, Mark Hunter, Ken Pittman, jeff Parrish and Steve Knudsen.

They gave 100fX: at all times and had a successful season winning 15 and losing 3. They also were the American Division Champions for the second time in two years with a 9-1 record. Bob Coburn was the leading hitter on the team batting .429 for the season with six homeruns and 22 R. B. I. s. Mark Gould had a 7-2 record with 63 strike outs in 54 innings and an E. R.A. of 1. 53 for all games. Mark also had a batting average of .411. Rich Valdez had a good year batting . 281 with 20 R. B. I. s. joe Billinger was one of the best catchers in the league batting .232 for the season. Ed Basquez had the best E. R.A. of the year, 1. 36 and a 4-0 record. Other excellent players were Don Vaughn Qpitcherl, Bill Dutter 12nd basej, Tom Polson Q3rd basej, Tim Smith Qpitcherj, and Don Lafferty V fO.F.l. The three juniors were Bob Milano CO.
