Junior high students study quietly while Mr. Mast finishes grading tests. While walking in the area of the biology and chemistry labs, students were often seen sniffing the air. Of- ten odors of formaldehyde, ether, and various chemicals floated through the halls, reminding stu- dents of the existence of the science department. Students enrolled in biology, ad- vanced biology, and general science were given the chance to try their hand at dissection. Chemistry and physics students were often found working in the lab on various ex- periments. Health is required of all sophomores, giving basic facts of physiology. Courses offered in the agriculture department included agriculture I and II, animal science, plant and soil science, farm management, ad- vanced crops and livestock produc- tion, horticulture, natural resources, farm structures I and II, and farm mechanics I and II. Activities included building pic- nic tables, welding, and main- tenancing tractors. On May 21st the freshman held a tractor rodeo where they not only competed in the contest but also learned about the safety and skill in- volved in handling a tractor.
