NHS ' s drama department faced a new, but heart-warming problem as they filled the auditorium beyond its capacity during the performance of Funny Girl. Extra chairs had to be set up for Friday night ' s show to seat the extra patrons of the North- field stage. Rose Sweet starred as Fanny Brice, the Ziegfield star of the 20 ' s and 30 ' s. Playing opposite Rose was Kerry Keffaber portraying her hus- band, Nick Arnstein. The play cen- tered around the growth of Fanny ' s stage career and her eventual mar- riage to Nick. Miss Durnbaugh and Mr. Hellems were co-directors, assisted by Mrs. Flohr, Mr. Trump, and Ms. Jane Mer- cer, a student teacher. Student direc- tors and producers were Dave Unger, Belinda Helvey and Kirk Heflin. The backdrop was painted by Janet Bidwell. Kerry Keffaber as Nick Arnstein tells Fanny Brice (Rose Sweet) You Are Woman. Kay Pretorius applies make-up to Tam Sausa- man before final dress-rehearsal. V4 ' tures Audience ' s Heart Gary Dale as Eddie Ryan and Denise Norman as Rose Brice perform their song Who Taught Her Everything.
