Here beginning students are given directed lessons in every possible technique, and ad- vanced students are allowed free time for experiments in any art activity. Here original art objects may be purchased. Among the objects sold this semester were glass paintings, painted ties, textile paintings, needlework, embroidery, water colors, oil paintings, and portraits. Students have also participated in such contests aszthe Walker Poster Contest,the annual Poppy Poster Contest, and the National Scholastic Awards Contest. Among the many who participated last semester, Northern had twowinners. The prizes were:a gold key in the National Scholastic Awards Contest, and third prize in the Poppy Poster Contest.
