Christmas vacation turns out to be quite a long one, as January dumps 144 inches of snow onto Garrett County, along with record-breaking cold temperatures. Schools open nine days during the month of January, three of which are half-days, and Garrett Co. students don't return full time until February 4, missing a total of 19 days.
