THE USUAL schedule is interrupted as the wrestlers score a crushing victory over Southern, 54-6. Despite hard practice, the Girls' Basketball team loses to Valley. Seniors are tested once again as they take the ACT. A sad note comes forth as Coaches Tom Vent and Andy Reed are injured in an automobile accident which leaves Mr. Vent hospitalized for months with severe leg injuries. Coach Reed becomes Varsity Basketball coach, and Mr. John Braskey returns to teach Mr. Vent's classes and to coach the J. V.'s. Because of scoreboard problems, the Huskies play the next home game at Mt. Savage--and are defeated. 27

THE BASKETBALL team travels to Beall High and defeats them, while our wrestlers suffer a defeat at Meyers- dale. The final day before Christmas vacation is cel- ebrated by a program given by the choruses, the band, and the violin class. Following our final school day for 1974, a dance is sponsored by the French Club; music is supplied by The Peasants. Christmas vacation is highlighted by a basketball tour- nament held here at N.H.S. with guest teams from Salisbury, Mountaineer, and Turkeyfoot. The Champ- ionship goes to Northern, Second Place to Salisbury, Third to Turkeyfoot, and Fourth to Mountaineer. Dave Bender is chosen M.V.P. in the tournament.
