Jenny Knox, Treasurer Vicki Teets, President Jeanie Wagner, Secretary Craig Wengerd, Vice-President Charles Thomas, Historian Kris DeWitt, Parliamentarian MR. YUNKER MR. MILLER MR. KEPLINGER SHI Class Prayer Our Heavenly Father, We ask that Your gracious presence might be felt in each of our lives as we prepare to become a part of a world which has so much become a part of us. We pray Your blessing on those who have continually lifted us up when we have fallen, so that we might reach this goal in our lives. For those who have helped to mold us--our par- ents, teachers, and friends--we thank You. And we pray that we may become what You would have us be. Grant un- to each of us a sincere love and understanding for our fellow men, courage to stand up for our convictions, per- severence to continue when we have failed, and wisdom to be able to distinguish right from wrong. We pray also for our world and its people everywhere. May all peoples of this earth become united in achieving a goal of peace, in creating a world where men can live without fear of war and hatred between nations--a world where man can once again trust his neighbor. Prepare us for that task You have prepared for us in this world. Forgive us and forever guide us. In Christ's name we pray. Amen --Linda Glotfelty Motto We are stopping into the future to make footprints on the sands of time. --Donna Kinsinger Flower Blue Rose Colors Blue and Pastel Green Ba Class of °72 Views Past and Present CLASS HISTORY 1969... We were finally in senior high. As sophomores we elected Linda Swauger president; Pam Bowers, secretary; Vicki Teets, vice-president; and Annette Klotz, treasurer. Susan Layman and Pam Bowers were selected majorettes, and Patty Bender and Ellen Hersh- berger were chosen cheerleaders. Sandy Wengerd represented us as treasurer in Student Council. “Rain- bow Fountains” was the theme of our Sophomore Dance with Ellen Hershberger queen. Patty Miller was elected FFA Sweetheart Queen. Ellen Hershberger’ was sophomore princess in the Autumn Glory Festival and was escorted by Joey Reichenbecher. 1970... Juniors! As class presi- dent we chose Greg Kidd. Backing him up were Susan Layman, vice- president; Vicki Teets, secretary; and Jeannie Wagner, treasurer. Elec- tions were held with plans to ren- ovate the Student Council. Chosen from the junior class were Carla Sisler, vice-president, and Linda Glotfelty, secretary. Linda Swauger became a welcome addition to the majorettes. James Oester won the Mountain Top Oratorical Contest and traveled to Baltimore. The Autumn Glory Festival Junior Prin- cess, Linda Swauger, was escorted by Charles Thomas. We felt like juniors upon the arrival of class rings. A memorable event was the banquet-prom at Wisp. “Age of Aquarius” was our theme, with Cathy Hinebaugh, senior, reigning as queen. 1971! Our dream had come true. We were seniors. Leading us through our final year was Vicki Teets, president. Other officers were Craig Wengerd, vice-presi- dent; Jenny Knox, secretary; Jean- nie Wagner, treasurer; Kris De- Witt, parliamentarian; and Charles Thomas, historian. Pam Bowers be- came head majorette, and Alana Skidmore was elected band presi- dent. Ellen Hershberger was chosen by her fellow cheerleaders as cap- tain, with Patty Bender co-captain. Carla Sisler was president of the newly-formed Student-Faculty Sen- ate, with Linda Glotfelty serving as parliamentarian, and Susan Wiley as class representative. Head- ing the Viking as editor was Ellen Smith, while Norma Hollada was North Star editor. Ellen Smith was selected as a student page to go to Annapolis, Md., with Donna Kinsinger appointed as alternate. The Autumn Glory Festival fea- tured Queen Judy Rounds, escorted by Craig Wengerd. Karen Platter was the senior princess with Joey Reichenbecher as her escort. Ob- taining honorable mention on the Tri-Valley All Star football team were Rick Wakefield, Sam Stein- hauer, Brad Beachy and John Hy- son. Alana Skidmore reigned as Queen over the annual Homecom- ing pageant and dance. “Smiling Faces” was the theme of the sen- ior party. The seniors were also honored at a tea. Ellen Hershber- ger became the Garrett County Junior Miss. The class of 72 holds fond memories of years past and fond hopes for the future. The be- ginning—1969...the end—1972. CLASS PROPHECY As we peer into our mirror, the future of our seniors is revealed. Sally Beachy is taking dictation of a long-winded speech given by Keith Coddington, mayor of Friendsville. Since graduation Sam Steinhauer has been taking it easy looking at magazines. Is that Sherry Stein on the centerfold? Betty Swauger and Denise Brenneman are grocery shopping at Bill Kelly’s market. At the meat coun- ter Peggy Gittere is teaching Henry Bowser the ropes of meat- cutting. Big money seems to come naturally to Gary King, bank presi- dent, as Charee Reckner and Meg Browning deposit their Ky. Derby winnings. Secretaries also come his way as Carla Sisler, Ann Klotz and Jenny Knox keep the boss happy. Craig Wengerd and Rick Shoe- maker are finally pro ball players. Jack, owner of Kahl’s Service-Cen- ter, is inspecting the work of his first class grease-monkeys, Wayne Oester and Ray Guthrie. Eddie Casteel is doing a welding job on the boss’s car. We _ see_ several happy homes with Sandy Wengerd, Ruth Kolb, Mary Wilburn, Patty Sisler, Nancy Loughrie, and Donna Michaels as contented housewives. Nancy Lawson visits the dentist, Randy Thomas, for a set of false teeth. Judy Rounds, dental asisst- ant, assures her it won’t hurt. We see John Hyson entering the class- rooms of Vicki Teets and Sharon Thomas to find out what a radio- logic technician is. Bill Hetz is going to turn his Sugar Shack into a $2 million farm as soon as he contacts two reliable draftsmen, Kris DeWitt and Mark Herring. Truck drivers Bill Fratz, Leo Low- dermilk, Bill Hetrick and Bill Wag- ner have gone on strike again. Gang leader Debbie Taylor says they must have a raise. Behind the counter of Joey Reichenbech- er’s Men’s Shop is Connie Kamp. She is stalling George Tasker, Richard Brenneman and Charles Resh while Marlene Yoder catches up on her altering. “Calling Doc- tors Jerry Humberson and James Oester. Report to the delivery room immediately.” It seems that Alana Skidmore Wakefield is ready to give birth to her sixth child. Assistance is needed from nurses Alice Miller, Debbie Durst, Liz Corley, and Susan Flanagan. Dottie sis George takes it easy at the desk as Head Nurse. Checking in for another day’s work is Karen Plat- ter, Physical Therapist. Lanny Savage, mortician, is conducting funeral services of a recent hospit- al patient. LuAnn Baker greets them with a smile while Brenda Miller prepares the main dish— hamburgers with onions and _tar- tar sauce. Susan Layman and Ellen Smith put finishing touches on Pam Bowers’ hair-do as she gets ready to receive an Emmy for best ac- tress in Bonanza. Blasting off to the moon are Astronauts Donna Kin- singer, Linda Glotfelty and Norma Hollada. With them are carpenters Jim Uphold, Kedrick Lapp, and Mike McCarty on their mission to build moon city. Bonnie Campbell has been sent along to provide the moon with oxygen by planting flowers from her greenhouse. There goes Trooper Rick Wakefield, chas- ing the blue streak that just zipped by him again. It’s time Linda Swauger gets another warning. Body guards Alan Richter and David Wiley surround VP Larry Bittinger and First Lady Patty Bender as they enter to see the art showings of Jeannie Wagner, Pat Weimer, and Don Shunk. Presi- dent Charlie Thomas is giving his State of the Union Address which is broadcast on station D-U-K-E, owned and operated by Robert Clinton. Ed Savage, technician, stands by to take care of difficul- ties. Sharon Bender has just been hired by the Casselman. She is still a little nervous.
