SMITH A - UaSU We of Northern High, affectionately dedicate this edition of the North Star to the memory of MR. HOYE BLAKE SMITH, who suddenly passed away in February, 1964. He was known to all as a teacher, as a friend, and as a tireless worker. Those who knew him will never forget him. As we dedicate this yearbook to MR. SMITH may we also dedi- cate ourselves to the ideals for which he stood. MAY HE REST IN PEACE 1917-1963 IN MEMORIAM To JOHN FITZGERALD KENNEDY whose profound efforts for justice and peace will remain in the hearts of all his fellow Americans. The assassin's bullet that ended the President's life also passed through the hearts of 190 million American citizens. But this mere bullet which took him from us can never destroy the ideas set forth by him. Administrations must carry on but none will be remembered like the one JOHN F. KENNEDY headed so well for such a short time. Therefore, we, the youth of Northern High, will long remember our great fallen leader. MAY HE REST IN PEACE! We thank Thee that we have had the privi- leges of learning, of sharing, and of enjoying. We pray'that as we go forth into a new role of life's drama, we may use the knowledge we have acquired toward the betterment of ourselves and of our fellow man. When we face the difficulties and trials of this life, save us from discouragement. Help each of us to think justly for ourselves; to achieve justly our goals. Bless us and be near us.
