Board of Education Our Board of Education, which is directly responsible for the schools in our county, are as follows: Left To Right: Mr. George Edwards, Associate Member; Mr. Maurice Brookhart, Vice- President; Dr. Ralph Calandrella, President; and Mr. Willard T. Hawkins, Superintendent of Schools. Though there has been much progress made in the past few years here in Garrett County, a Five Year Profile presented by our Superintendent of Schools, and adopted by the Board, calls for even more progress in the bettering of our Educational Facilities.

Principal's Message Dear Students: As this school year, 1957-1958, comes to a close on June 13, it will become another year of memories for you. Your YEARBOOK STAFF has worked hard to produce for you a book that will help you to preserve these memories. I would like to take this opportunity to extend to Mr. Phillips, Adviser; Mr. Englar, Photographer; Clara Jane Callis, Editor; and all members of the NORTH STAR STAFF my CONGRATULATIONS for an outstanding publication. Now, what will this book of memories mean to you? Was the school year, 1957-1958, a year of play? Was it a year of idleness? Or, was it a year of sacrifice and hard work with moments of relaxation and enjoyment? Boys and girls, it all adds up to one thing. Did you or did you not make wise use of your time since September? I hope your answer is in the affirmative for then I will know that this book will truly be a book of memories for you. On behalf of the faculty, I would like to extend to our 1958 GRADUATES our sincere BEST WISHES for health, happiness, and success in the future.
