Your YEARBOOK STAFF has worked hard to produce for you a book that will help you to preserve these memories. I would like to take this opportunity to extend to Mr. Phillips, Adviser; Mr. Englar, Photographer; Clara Jane Callis, Editor; and all members of the NORTH STAR STAFF my CONGRATULATIONS for an outstanding publication. Now, what will this book of memories mean to you? Was the school year, 1957-1958, a year of play? Was it a year of idleness? Or, was it a year of sacrifice and hard work with moments of relaxation and enjoyment? Boys and girls, it all adds up to one thing. Did you or did you not make wise use of your time since September? I hope your answer is in the affirmative for then I will know that this book will truly be a book of memories for you. MOTTO: We Fly With Our Own Wings FLOWER: Green Carnation COLORS: Mint Green And Black Dedication Song Tune to (WITH THESE HANDS) Our glad times, and our sad ones too, Will live with us throughout the years. The past is gone, now the future's here, for us to challenge on our own. With our love we will cherish you. Long after years have since gone by, and, with our smiles we will conquer all. Let there never be a day when we won't think of you, for we'll never, no we'll never, forget you. Northern High, we must leave you now and never more to go astray. With this thought we'll remember you. Our loyal friends and teachers, too. With our learning we will seek a new. Long after stars have lost their glow, and, with our hearts we will pray for you, should there be a stormy sea we'll turn the tide for you. For we'll never, no we'll never let you down, Class Song (Tune - Farewell To Thee) From this most lov-ed school, we now must leave; And through-out the years our hearts will grieve For our many friends at Northern High, To whom we must now say goodbye. Chorus: Farewell to these, Farewell to these, Our many, many friends at Northern High; May heaven guard and keep them all so true, Until we meet again. Although the future does not seem so clear, These years we'll always hold so dear, And as the time goes slowly by, We'll always remain a part of Northern High. He was in our midst as a teacher, as a friend, a counsellor, and as a tireless worker. He was in our midst when he was called into the life beyond. He is still in our midst. We believe that he will always be with us. His dreams, his hopes, his desires, his ambitions, are still a real part of us. The memory of Mr. Callis lingers on. As we dedicate this yearbook to Mr. Callis may we dedicate ourselves to the ideals of happy, useful lives and the good that we can do.
