Student Council President Joe Bender was named Student Council president as a result ofthe voting by the entire student body April 29, 1955. He has done a splendid job heading the council. The student body is proud of the progress made under his leadership. Other council offices are held by: l Max Bowser-Vice -President Patty McKenzie-Secretary Elsie Wright-Treasurer l a it as r Student Council The Student Council is the governing body of the school. One person is selected from each home- room to serve on the council. The council provides opportunities for pupil participation and expression, promotion of good leadership, creating respect for others, and teaching the division of labor and sharing of responsibilities. One of the most important aims of the council is the development of harmonious relations between teachers and students. Other aims are to develop good school spirit, stimulate good scholarship, and encourage student participation in extra-curricular activities. Some of the activities the council sponsors are, March of Dimes, the magazine campaign, assembly programs. traffic committees and publicity for all school functions. 10
