FACING THE FUTURE As you, the members of the Class of 1954, stand on the threshold of the future, you are probably beset by a mixture of high hopes, doubts and fears as well as a certain sense of achievement. The feeling of having accomplished one important milestone in your young careers is a well earned one. Many of you, however, are already looking forward to the next step and as you readjust your goal you are doubt- less beginning to wonder. What does the future hold in store. for you in a world torn by wars and rumors of wars; a world held besieged by the Iron Curtain ideals of the Communists; a world held enthralled by the threat of Atomic weapons and hydrogen bombs; a world in which two-thirds of its teeming millions are hungry; a world bound together by supersonic speed and radar communication; a world in which disease is slowly being conquered by the use of atomic devices; a world in which democracy must protect the four freedoms of man, in short, a world of which you are about to become ;: very important unit?
