Our squad consisted primarily of first year players but these fellows displayed 100W of the true spirit, "All for Northeast, " and above all, pride in themselves. Although our seasons' record was not very impressive, the caliber ofathletes returning to the Varsity team next year will prove that Northeast Vikings can and will be a winner in '74- '75. Although the team finished the season with a seven won, sixteen lost record, they were right up to the closing minutes, in all but a couple of ball games. There were several things that characterized the team: plenty of depth, plenty of hustle and aggressive play, tough competition, and most im- portant, the team continued to improve throughout the season. Finishing strong, winning three of their last four games, allowed them to tie with Van Horn and Lincoln, fboth of whom they defeatedj with a four win, five loss record. Three of the teams league losses were by margins of three points, two of the wins were by two and one points, respectively. Con- sider the caliber of competition the Vikings played all season long and it all adds up to one thingy this years team was highly under-rated and very com- petitive. With the close of the season, two players were honored by the league coaches and players, being selected for honorable mention on the All-City Team. They were: Mike Schmidt, senior, guard, and jeff johnson, junior, center. The experiences I have had, the new friends I have made, and the ideas we have exchanged all are memories I will treasure forever. I hope you have learned something from me, as I have from you. My fondest memory of Northeast was the generosity you showed at Christmas time. It brought me closer to home, even though I was far away. I would like to thank you, the students, along with teachers, administrators, and the Northeast community for making this year one of the most beautiful of my life.
