Maroon and grey will shine forever glorious; Within our hearts live memories of you. Throughout the years you’ll be our inspiration, The guiding light in each day of life. Dear Northeast High, your loyal sons and daughters, Now pledge to keep thy royal banner high; In hallow’d halls thy students will go forward, To greater heights, and God will be nigh; May friendships last, our hopes and dreams accomplished, With peace for all, and no fear of strife. A decade has passed since Northeast first opened her doors. During this time, she has seen steady progression with ever-increasing standards and ideals. We are proud to be a part of Northeast in this her tenth year. ■ We have chosen hands as the theme for our 1965 Le Nord-Est. As children, protective hands led us; as adolescents, helping hands guide us; and as adults, we will find our¬ selves relying solely on our own hands to lead us forward. The late John F. Kennedy said, . . Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans . . We are an integral part of this new generation of Americans. To us the torch symbolizes dreams for accomplishments of future success. The degree of accomplishment will be measured greatly by the firmness with which we hold to our torch. Let us now, each and every one, grasp solely with our own hands our own particular torch, leading ourselves forward to our own dreams and our own accomplishments. I know you will look back upon these past twelve years with fond memories as the years go by. We on the Board have tried to give you the best facilities and the best faculty our limited resources could provide. I am aware of our shortcomings, but also I am proud of our curricula and our teachers, most of. whom have stayed with us for a number of years. They have stayed, not because of the best conditions and the best emolument there is offered, but because they are fond of the community and because of the high quality of the raw material—you, the students—they have had to work with. Your success at Northeast and your future successes shall be the monuments to our achievements as members of the Board. Besides providing you with a sound basic education, I hope we have also engraved in your character a love of school, a love of community and a love of country that will guide you through this tumultuous space age. Good luck in your future endeavors! Walter A. Kolaga President 7 Administration To the Class of ’65 In athletics, we often read about the All-American who succeeds because he is capable of a " second effort’’ when he is about to be stopped just short of the goal line. We say he has " great desire”. Imagine, if you will, a large sign on the front lawn which reads " This is Northeast Bradford. It Is the Center of the Earth. Beginning From Here, You Can Go Anywhere.” This can be true for you if you are willing to give that " second effort”. You can be an All-American in whatever you choose to become if you have enough " desire”. The road to success and happiness is seldom easy but the result is worth the effort. Best wishes to all of you always. Supervising Principal MR. JACOB HENNIP B.S., Mansfield State College M.Ed., Pennsylvania State University 8 High School Principal MR. JOSEPH B. DeANGELIS B.S., M.Ed., Pennsylvania State University To the Class of 1965: As you leave us to go your separate ways, I should like to remind you of the necessity to constantly search for ways and means of stimulating your thinking. The complexities of today’s living makes this mandatory. Without such stimulation of your thought processes, you face the possibility of a return to that type of thinking which belongs in the " dead” past and which has no place in the world of tomorrow—thinking that embodies prejudice, hate, intolerance, greed, and the entombment of the freedom of man. What you become in the future rests upon the foundations that you have developed today. We, at Northeast Bradford, would like to feel that we have contributed a major portion toward the stimulation of your thinking—thinking that we hope ultimately develops within you the material that will help to build the citizen who contributes positively to his society. My Best Wishes are extended to you for a meaningful and fruitful life! 9 Guidance Counselor MR. HOBART HUTCHINS B.S., East Stroudsburg State College M.S., University of Scranton To the Class of 1965 CONGRATULATIONS! to each one of you as you reach one of your goals—that of a high school education. Onward you must go in search of new and even more important goals; Now you must realistically evaluate your interests and abilities as you take your place in an adult society. Go forth with an optimistic outlook and Renew your determination and enthusiasm, As you leave your Alma Mater. To be loyal and honest is important Under every conceivable condition. Love your fellow man, And be a " good person” yourself! To achieve this is in the reach of all human beings. Instill in your mind a winning spirit, for On the highways of today’s life, losers are quitkly pushed aside. No one has yet found an easy way to SUCCESS— this equals all of the above plus more. Sincerely wishing you the Best of Luck! 10 SENIORS a Darling LOIS LOUISE GREEN Chorus 1, 2, 3, 4; Girls ' Ensemble 1, 2, 3, 4; G.A.C. 1, 2, 3; Class President 4; Class Vice- President 3; Junior Play; F.H.A. 1, 2, 3, 4, Treas. 3, Historian 4, State F.H.A.
