" Nestled against a background of Blue Ridge hills, NORTH SURRY HIGH SCHOOL appears to be well-adjusted to its location. Early in our first year it became apparent that teachers and stu¬ dents had established a good working relationship. This strong element, coupled with high standards in scholar¬ ship, student morale, and sportsmanship, set the tone for our school. Building on such a foundation, we can only go forward and upward. Having " lifted our eyes to the stars, " let us move toward our ideals of a better student body in a better school. Her genuine concern for the students, her sympathetic understanding of their problems, and her willingness to help them all has endeared her to those with whom she works. She has guided, encouraged, and inspired her students. She has presented the subject matter of her classes in such a way that the students have found it interesting, and have been led to want to learn more and more. With gratitude and affection, we dedicate the 1961 NORTH STAR to MISS LOUISE KENDALL. 11 Administration ROBERT O. POPLIN, JR. Principal Wake Forest College, A.B. Appalachian State Teachers College, M.A. ir.oughtful planning, untiring effort, and good leadership are the spearheads of successful administration of any or- ganizat -on.
