Creedon, Secretary ..- .A 1- rf. ,f 1"l . f.. . sf, .-'S '.4 ' j AZ? Paul Carlin 1918-1977 lVlr. Carlin was a wonderful teacher and a wonderful man. He gave to his life's work his complete energy and his total devotion. Twenty years of North Quincy students have benefited from his skill, care and generosity. Thousands of us both past and present are better persons for having met him and shared parts of our lives with him. Through his teaching, his club activities and his continual good advice and support he has brought many of us a little further along life's way. While we miss him dearly, all of us, within our hearts, will carry his legacy for a long time to come. 4 The poem below was written by Mr. Carlin and was read by him on each Memorial Day since 1973.1 We think it fitting that on this day as we dedicate our book to him that we should read to him in his memory those same verses which he so lovingly read to all those other "sons of North" these many years passed. Who were these boys who died as men? Just names, you say, upon A plaque of honored dead Or fools, perhaps, who got involved And forfeited youth's carefree ways. No, No, my friends, think them not "Just names" or "fools" but only as vibrant, pulsating manly flesh Who loved the carefree ways of youth but, somehow, paused and looked ahead and knew the future must be in the hands of Godly men. Who are these boys who died as men Far from home and loving friends: They are, l say a part of you a part of me They are North's Beloved Sons They are - God's most cherished Ones. Paul J.
