Approximately eighty junior high students composed the junior Historical Club at North Putnam. History opened up new Worlds. History was often learned first-hand by the Junior and Senior Historical Societies. The Junior Historical Society visited Vincennes and New Harmony. The George Rogers Clark Memorial was seen and the ex- periment in communal living at New Harmony was investigated. Claudia Tracy, a member of the Senior Histor- ical Society, was elected to a state office. The project for the junior Historical Society state convention was entitled Our Astronauts. Pupils constructed facsimiles of rockets, researched the kind of foods eaten in space, and delved into all phases of space travel. They won third place for their exhibit at the state historical convention at Indianapolis. The members of the Senior History Club were QFRONT ROW, l. to r.j Bill Wise, Gene Pingleton.
