Most people think thot being o Cheerleoder begins in September ond ends in Februory or Morch. For some schools thot moy be true, but being o North High Cheerleoder is o yeor long commitment in reolity the whole process begins in April, with tryouts. Once the line hos been choosen the girls begin preporing for the follow- ing yeor. Uniforms must be decided upon, sum- mer proctice dotes must be set, ond money must be roised for comp. Thot is when oll the fun begins! During the summer, one week wos spent ot UCSD for o cheerleoding comp teoms from oll over the southwest come to leorn new cheers ond mounts, ond to leorn new cheers ond mounts, ond to compete for the coveted spirit stick. Our girls come owoy with quite o few owords ond mony new routines. By the vorsity cheer line wos reody to go! Along with footboll seoson come pep ossemblies. The girls spent oll morning decoroting the gym, procticing cheers, ond getting themselves psyched for the students. When the footboll ployers hod owoy gomes, the cheerleoders olong with the pommies, mode goodie bogs for oll the guys. They were filled with condy ond cookies ond little notes to let them know the girls were with them oll the woy. we-'re oll friends ond we get olong reolly well with eoch other.
